Getting Started
When you first open Bitgrain, you see a clean workspace. The center of the screen is where your work happens. At the bottom, you have the main tools to get an image into the system.
Your first image
You have two simple ways to start:
- Upload Image: Click the large card on the left. You can pick almost any image: PNG, JPG, WEBP, GIF, BMP, AVIF, SVG, and ICO. It also handles HEIC and HEIF files from iPhones, TIFF and DNG files, and around 30 camera RAW formats from Canon, Nikon, Sony, Fuji, Panasonic, Olympus, Pentax, Sigma, Kodak, Leica, Epson, and medium format bodies like Hasselblad, Phase One, Mamiya, and Leaf. Every file is developed right in your browser and is never uploaded to a server.
- Try Sample: If you just want to see what is possible, click the small "Try Sample" button. It will load a random professional photograph for you to play with.
The Studio Shortcut
The right card takes you to Studio Templates. This is for when you want to make a poster or an album cover instead of just processing a single photo.
Keeping track of your exports
In the top right corner, you will see two numbers.
- PNG: How many high quality PNG exports you have left.
- SVG: How many vector SVG exports you have left.
Sample images are always free to export, so you can practice as much as you like.
The Layout
The screen is built to stay out of your way. Your image stays in the center. All the controls are in a small bar that floats at the bottom of the screen. This keeps your focus on the art.
