A free editor for Marathi wedding invitations, with Devanagari fonts that handle ळ and every jodakshar, and a clear lagna patrika format to follow.
Marathi uses the same Devanagari fonts as Hindi. Martel, Eczar and Laila all carry ळ and the half letters, so names like कुळकर्णी and देशपांडे set correctly.
Search for a lagna patrika format and you mostly find scanned cards and wording lists. This page gives you the usual order of a Marathi lagna patrika, and an editor where you can set it properly in Devanagari, change any line, and print it or send it on WhatsApp.
Every family adjusts the wording, but most Marathi patrikas follow the same shape from top to bottom. Write yours out first so you know how much text each block holds.
The top carries the blessing, usually ॥ श्री गणेशाय नमः ॥, often with the family deity named below it, for example ॥ श्री कुलस्वामिनी प्रसन्न ॥. A small Ganpati, kalash or mundavalya motif sits here.
Next comes the heading शुभ विवाह, then the invitation itself. The groom is written चि. (चिरंजीव) and the bride चि. सौ. कां. (चिरंजीव सौभाग्यकांक्षिणी), each followed by their parents' names, such as श्री. व सौ. सुनीता प्रकाश देशपांडे यांचे ज्येष्ठ चिरंजीव.
Then the muhurat block: the date, the tithi if your family uses it, the time, and the कार्यस्थळ with a full address. Many patrikas add the smaller functions, like साखरपुडा, हळद, सीमांत पूजन and स्वागत समारंभ, each on its own line.
The closing block is the आपले नम्र or निमंत्रक list, naming the relatives sending the invitation. Some families also add a short line such as कृपया आहेर आणू नये if they do not want gifts, and a स्नेहभोजन note with the lunch timing.
Give the time in the words people actually say, for example दुपारी १२ वाजून ३५ मिनिटांनी, and put the English date beside the Marathi date. Use either Marathi numerals (१२:३५) or English numerals (12:35) and stick to one through the whole patrika.
If the ceremony is at a hall, add a landmark and a short Google Maps link in English under the address. Out of town guests and drivers will thank you.
Printed patrikas in Maharashtra are commonly 5 by 7 inches, 6 by 9 inches folded, or square. Keep important text away from the edges because the card is trimmed after printing, and export a PDF for the press. Ask the printer about paper and finish before you decide on dark backgrounds, since deep colours can look different on textured stock.
For WhatsApp, a 1080 by 1920 image fills the phone screen and doubles as a status. A 1080 by 1350 portrait looks more like a card in the chat. If the Marathi text looks soft after sending, send the file as a document instead of a photo so WhatsApp does not compress it.
Bitgrain does not transliterate English into Marathi. Use a Marathi keyboard, such as Gboard on your phone or the Marathi input on Windows and macOS, or paste wording you have written elsewhere.
The Paithani border patrika above follows the full patrika order, from शुभमंगल सावधान to निमंत्रक and स्वागतोत्सुक, so you only swap in your names, dates and venue. The Marathi wedding signs next to it match it for the day itself.
