Templates

Bitgrain templates are ready-made Studio designs across 13 categories, from album covers and posters to resumes and pitch decks. This page covers browsing them at /templates, the preview gallery, opening a template, which ones need a free account, and reusing your own designs.

Every template opens as an ordinary Studio project. Nothing is locked inside it: every text, shape and image is a normal layer you can edit, move, restyle or delete.

Browsing templates

The template browser lives at /templates. You can reach it from From a template on the studio home.

The landing view

With no search and no category chosen, the page shows:

Searching

Type in the search box (it suggests ideas like "grunge, magazine cover, jazz, synthwave") to search template names and tags. Results appear as a grid, with category chips above so you can narrow them down. If nothing matches, the page suggests popular tags to try instead.

Category pages

Each category has its own page at /templates/ followed by the category name, for example /templates/poster. It has a short introduction, links to neighbouring categories, its own search box and the full grid for that category. All formats takes you back.

The newest templates carry a New tag.

Opening a template

  1. Click a template card.
  2. Studio creates a new project from it and opens it in the editor.
  3. Replace the text, swap in your own photos, and change colors and fonts.

The template itself never changes, so you can open the same one as many times as you like. Each time you get a fresh, separate project. Small templates are scaled up so their longest side is at least 1080 pixels, which keeps them sharp when exported.

Switching templates inside the editor

The Templates section at the bottom of the editor's left panel lets you search ("Search name, tags, or type...") and browse templates without leaving the editor. Picking one replaces the whole current design with the template. If you have unsaved changes, Studio asks Switch Template? and offers Save & Switch or Just Switch.

Tip: To combine a template with work you already have, open the template as a new project from /templates instead, so your current project stays as it is.

Filling in image slots

Many templates have image slots, shown as a gray checkerboard until they have a picture. Select one and click choose image in its Appearance section to add your photo. See images and uploads.

Sign-in and free templates

Some templates are marked free and some are not. Neither needs a paid plan.

/template-gallery is a public preview of the template library, laid out as a masonry wall of thumbnails. It is meant for a quick look at what ships with Studio. Clicking a thumbnail, or open studio, takes you to the studio home, not into that template. To actually use a template, pick it from /templates.

Reusing your own designs

Studio does not have a "save as template" button for your own work, but the same result is easy to get:
