Bitgrain has three levels of access: using the editor without an account, a free account, and Pro. This page lists exactly what each one can do, where each limit shows up in the app, and how the 7-day trial, the one-time licence and coupon codes work.
The short version: every effect, template and tool is available to everyone. Pro changes the output, not the toolbox. It removes the watermark, lifts the resolution cap, and adds SVG, 4K video, batch processing and cloud sync. Pro is a single payment that covers ten years, and there is no subscription. For current prices in your currency, see the pricing page.

Without an account, Bitgrain treats you exactly like the free plan inside the editor. Signing up for a free account adds the studio and the video editor, and lets your purchases and presets follow you between devices. See the three workspaces for what each tool is for.
These are the only differences between free and Pro, taken from the plan settings the app actually enforces.
Free exports get a small rounded label in the bottom right corner with the Bitgrain logo and the text bitgrain.app. Its size scales with the image so it stays readable without taking over.
Where it applies:
Where you see it:
On the free plan, image exports are scaled down so the longest side is no more than 1500 pixels. The shape of the image never changes, only its size.
Where it applies:
1×, 2× or 4×).Where you see it:
Pro exports at the full size of your image or design. The editor has its own hard ceiling of 16384 pixels on the long edge for every plan, because browsers cannot reliably create larger images.
In the editor's export menu, vector SVG is a Pro feature. On the free plan, clicking it opens the checkout instead of downloading. The same goes for animated SVG and Lottie from the studio's animation export: on the free plan, choosing either opens the checkout, and the export panel says vector exports are part of Pro.
Note: The editor's sample images are an exception. You can export a sample as SVG on any plan, so you can see what the vector output looks like before you decide. On a phone, a badge reading "Sample image, SVG export unlocked" reminds you of this. Raster exports of a sample follow the normal free rules, with the watermark and the 1500 pixel cap.
See exporting from the editor for how SVG export works, including ASCII art that exports as real text characters.
Free accounts export video at up to 720p, and Pro exports up to 4K. The limit is measured on the shorter side of the frame, so it works the same way for landscape, portrait and square projects:
| Plan | Shorter side | 16:9 project | 9:16 project | 1:1 project |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free | Up to 720 px | 1280 by 720 | 720 by 1280 | 720 by 720 |
| Pro | Up to 2160 px | Up to 3840 by 2160 | Up to 2160 by 3840 | Up to 2160 by 2160 |
Where you see it: in the video export panel, the Resolution menu marks larger sizes with · pro. Choosing one on the free plan opens the checkout. If a project is set larger than your plan allows, the export is scaled down to fit. Free video exports also carry the watermark. See exporting video.
Batch processing runs one effect chain over many images at once and downloads them as a ZIP. It is Pro only. On the free plan, starting a batch opens the checkout.
On the free plan, studio and video projects are saved in your browser on the device you are using. On Pro they are also saved to your account, so they appear on any device you sign in on.
Where you see it: on the studio and video home screens, free accounts with at least one project see a note that says "your projects are saved on this device." with a link, pro keeps them in sync across devices, that opens the checkout.
The full story, including what happens to media files and what happens when you move from free to Pro, is in accounts and saving.
On the studio home, each project card has a duplicate action. Free accounts can duplicate two projects, counted in this browser. After that, duplicating opens the checkout. Pro duplicates without a limit. Video projects cannot be duplicated from the home screen on any plan.
.btg project files. Saving and opening them is free on every plan, so your work is never locked in.Every account can try Pro free for seven days, once. No card is needed and nothing is charged at the end.
How to start it:
What to know:
If you have connected an assistant through the Bitgrain connector, it can also offer to start the same trial for you. It is the same one trial per account.
Pro is sold as one product: a one-time licence that covers ten years. You pay once, and it never renews. There is no monthly bill and nothing to cancel later.
To buy it:
You need to be signed in to buy, so the licence is attached to your account. If you are not, the pay button takes you to the sign-in page first and brings you back to the checkout afterwards.
Your account page shows your plan as "Pro license, active until" followed by the end date. The receipt is under Billing history.
Payment providers, currencies, receipts and refunds are covered in billing and refunds.
Note: If you bought an older Bitgrain plan (for example Studio, Studio Pro or a Creator plan), it is treated as Pro. Nothing changes for you.
Bitgrain uses coupon codes for discounts. There are two ways to use one.
Type the code into Coupon code on the checkout page and click Apply. If it works, you see a line with your code followed by "applied" and the discount, for example "20% off the one-time price." A code that covers the full price shows "the license is free for you." Codes can expire or have a limited number of uses.
Some emails include a link to /redeem with the code already filled in. The redeem page is for codes that cover the full price. It works like this:
If you open /redeem without a code, you can paste one into the box (codes look like BG-XXXXXXXX) and click redeem. If the code is only a partial discount, the page says "that's a discount code" and asks you to use it at checkout instead. If it has expired, been used up or was mistyped, it says "this code didn't work". If you are already on Pro, there is nothing to redeem.
If paying is not possible for you right now, the pricing page has an Ask for free access link. Students, independent artists and people in lower-income regions are welcome to ask. The form asks who you are, where you share your work and why you need it.
