Studio keyboard shortcuts
Every keyboard shortcut and mouse modifier in Bitgrain Studio, grouped by what you are doing: tools, canvas navigation, editing, selection, text, vector paths and dialogs.
On a Mac, use Cmd. On Windows and Linux, use Ctrl. Single-letter tool keys and Delete are ignored while you are typing in a text layer or a field, so they never interrupt your writing.
A short version of this list is always available: click an empty part of the canvas and open Quick keys at the bottom of the right panel.
| Shortcut | Action |
|---|
V | Select tool. Also leaves any drawing tool. |
H | Hand tool, for panning the canvas. |
P | Pen tool. Press again to put it down. |
Shift + P | Pencil tool. Press again to put it down. |
B | Brush tool. Press again to put it down. |
F | Draw page. Drag on the canvas to draw a new page or frame. Press again to cancel. |
Esc | Leaves the current tool and returns to Select. |
See shapes and vectors for the pen, pencil and brush, and pages and frames for drawing pages.
Canvas navigation
| Shortcut | Action |
|---|
| Scroll or trackpad swipe | Pan the canvas. |
Cmd / Ctrl + scroll | Zoom in or out, towards the pointer. Trackpad pinch works the same way. |
Hold Space + drag | Pan, whatever tool is active. |
| Middle mouse button + drag | Pan. |
| Pinch with two fingers (touch screen) | Zoom and pan. |
Zoom runs from 10% to 400%. The View menu has fixed zoom levels, and Fit canvas in the status bar returns to the default 70% view.
Editing
| Shortcut | Action |
|---|
Cmd / Ctrl + Z | Undo. |
Cmd / Ctrl + Shift + Z | Redo. |
Cmd / Ctrl + Y | Redo. |
Cmd / Ctrl + D | Duplicate the selected layers. With nothing selected, duplicate the active page. |
Cmd / Ctrl + G | Group the selected layers (two or more). |
Cmd / Ctrl + Shift + G | Ungroup the selected group. |
Delete or Backspace | Delete the selected layers. With a page selected by its name label and no layers selected, delete that page. While you are editing vector points, it removes only the selected point, never the whole layer. |
Cmd / Ctrl + V | Paste an image from the clipboard onto the active page. |
Cmd / Ctrl + E | Export the active page as a PNG with your current export size. |
Cmd / Ctrl + R | Reload the editor without the unsaved-changes prompt. Autosave runs about a second after each change, so wait a moment after your last edit. |
Undo and redo are ignored while you are typing in a field or a text layer, so the browser's own text undo works there instead. See layers.
